Day 11: Sometimes you eat the BEAR...

Dammit Walter, it isn't until just this minute that I realized he is saying "BEAR" not "BAR". It makes so much more sense this way! It's the old timey way of saying bear, I guess. Almost everyone thinks the line is "sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you." Which never made sense to me. Is this blowing your mind? Wow, I think we all learned something here today.
So anayway, I was super prepared for week one of this campaign and together we knocked it out of the park, but this week I’ve needed to focus on real life and let the comic thing run itself for a few days. That's okay, we're doing just fine. I have managed to do the most important thing which is to catchup on all your messages (I think, let me know if you are wating to hear back from me on something!) and thank each and every backer thus far. It has been awesome to hear from fans new and old. I got a couple questions along the way that are worth answering:
Where is Banana Man #3?
On two previous Dallas campaigns my son, Ezra, starting at age 10, released his own comic book, The Adventures of Banana Man, that we included in some reward tiers. The book was 100% created, written, drawn and produced by Ezra and it was, I think, really damn funny. Now some folks are asking about the next book in the series. The problem with choosing up and coming artists when they are 10 years old is it is very hard to predict their career path. Though he's grown immensely as an artist and still does comics, he feels he's outgrown BM for now. And he feels weird attaching himself to art from those books that is not at his current level. Also, I failed to sign him to an adequate long term contract (he did sign a NDA so he can't work on any Kickstarters within a 2 block radius.) I will ask him to make something for this campaign though, maybe as a stretch goal. I'll tell him his fans are demanding it. And if you missed Banana Man, both books are available as add ons.
Can I get the Bug Out Bug outside the US?
Quick answer, yes now you can! I was afraid the shipping for this package might be too difficult/expensive to include it as an option. But an awesome backer in AUS really wanted it, so I’ve adjusted things. Remember all non-US shipping charges will be charged after the campaign when we are ready to ship, and it will be the cheapest available rate at that time. If things are still crazy with shipping to AUS at that time I will simply hold on to the package until prices have come down, or ujtil I’ve confirmed with the backer first that we can go ahead. Bottom line, if there is a tier you want and you don’t see it offered to your country, let me know and we’ll make it happen.
Work life balance, yeah right
Want to hear a great discussion of this project and how not to go crazy while running said project? Here’s the playback of a Livestream I did this week with Tyler James of Comixlaunch. I think it went pretty darn well.
Other cool stuff
Dracula: Visions
My whole family is into vampires right now, watching What We Do in the Shadows. Clearly we aren’t alone. It’s a great time to check out this super scary/sexy collection of Dracula-inspired art, Dracula: Visions. It’s a 56-page gallery from two dozen spectacular artists, no need to read any damn words! It’s already funded so go and back it with confidence, you’ll be getting an awesome book to proudly display in your lair.

Bai Ze and the Book of Monsters
I was a Dungeons & Dragons kid back in the day, 1980 or so, I was rocking the first edition set. I’ve never really stopped playing it in my head—I‘m now a 379th level half-elf cleric-ranger, if you must know. These days D&D seems a bit cooler than it used to be. This D&D style game universe by Luminous Ages features all the stuff you love about D&D, but with a different mythology, different character classes, different creatures. This project features a campaign and a comic book, and wonderful fantasy art. Most important it has miniatures, because it’s all about the miniatures. I might need to get this one for Ezra…
Psycho Gorman
Who doesn’t want an anthology of pure space terror? This massive volume of classic sci-fi horror is based on the cult hit move Psycho Goreman. I can’t say I’ve seen it, but this book has destroyed its funding goal with over 700 backers, so clearly I need to get up to speed on this scary purple guy.
